(F)      IF A LICENSED PREMISES PRECEDED THE LOCATION OF THE PROTECTED
BUILDING BUT THE PROTECTED BUILDING IS LOCATED WITHIN 300 FEET OF A
LICENSED PREMISES, THE OFFICE OF THE COMPTROLLER MAY RENEW THE LICENSE.

(G)     DISTANCE RESTRICTION REQUIREMENTS DO NOT APPLY TO ANY
LICENSED PREMISES IN EXISTENCE ON JULY 1, 1997.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1997.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 552.

This bill creates a beer tasting alcoholic beverages license in Carroll County. The license
may be issued only to a holder of a beer, wine, and liquor license or a beer and wine
license. The annual license fee is $100. Tasting privileges may not be exercised during the
Maryland Wine Festival.

House Bill 1053, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 8,
1997, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 552.

AN ACT concerning

Carroll County - Alcoholic Beverages
(Beer Tasting License)

FOR the purpose of creating a beer tasting license in Carroll County; imposing conditions
and restrictions on the license; specifying an annual fee; and generally relating to
alcoholic beverages in Carroll County.
