the officer or the employee is placed in the [classified service] STATE PERSONNEL
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM in accordance with those provisions; and

(3) the head of a unit who is in the [ classified service] STATE PERSONNEL
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM or holds the position other than at the pleasure of the Governor
does not cease to be in the [classified service] STATE PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM or to hold the position other than at the pleasure of the Governor.

9-108.

(e) (2) Except as provided in paragraph (3) of this subsection or otherwise by
law, the staff of the Commission is in the [classified service of the] State Personnel
Management System.

(3) A deputy director is in the [unclassified] EXECUTIVE service of the
State Personnel Management System. However, a deputy director may be removed only
for cause after being given notice and an opportunity for a hearing.

9-1605.

(a) An administrative law judge:

(1) shall be a [member of the unclassified service of] SPECIAL
APPOINTMENT IN the State Personnel Management System;

10-703.

Employees of an abolished or superseded unit who are in the [classified] SKILLED
SERVICE OR PROFESSIONAL service of the State Personnel Management System, WITH
THE EXCEPTION OF SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS:

(1)     keep their status as [classified] SKILLED SERVICE OR PROFESSIONAL
service employees; and

(2)     in accordance with the provisions of the State Personnel and Pensions
Article that govern [classified] SKILLED SERVICE OR PROFESSIONAL service
employees and the regulations adopted under them, are eligible for reemployment by the
successor or by another unit in the respective [classified] SKILLED SERVICE OR
PROFESSIONAL service position in the State Personnel Management System.

12-401.

In this subtitle, "State personnel" means:

(1) a regular [classified or unclassified] employee of the State whose
compensation:

(i) is provided by a State appropriation; or

(ii) is paid wholly or partly from State funds;
