(c) The compensation, civilian classification, and status of civilian employees shall
be determined in accordance with the provisions of the State Personnel and Pensions
Article [that govern classified service employees], except to the extent that specific
provision is made in this article.
Article - Agriculture
2-102.
(d) (1) (ii) Assistants in charge of areas of responsibility and professional
consultants shall be in the [unclassified service of] EXECUTIVE SERVICE,
MANAGEMENT SERVICE, OR SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS IN the State Personnel
Management System and shall serve at the pleasure of the Secretary.
(2) Except as otherwise provided by law, the Secretary shall appoint and
remove all other personnel in accordance with the provisions of the State Personnel and
Pensions Article [that govern classified service employees].

The Secretary may enforce the provisions of this subtitle through meat inspectors,
agents, and other employees designated or appointed consistently with the provisions of
this subtitle. Except as provided in § 4-104 of this subtitle or otherwise by law, all
inspectors shall be employed in ACCORDANCE WITH [the classified service of] THE
PROVISION OF the State Personnel Management System.

(e) (3) (i) Personnel who are employed on or after July 1, 1978, or who have
been employed for fewer than 6 months on the date of application by the district will be
appointed to the [classified] SKILLED SERVICE OR PROFESSIONAL service, WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS, on completion of 6 months of satisfactory
employment with the district, and in conformity with the provisions of this subsection".
(ii) Clerical and administrative personnel appointed after the date of
application by the district shall be appointed in conformity with the provisions of the
State Personnel and Pensions Article that govern the [classified] SKILLED SERVICE OR
PROFESSIONAL service, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS.
(4) (i) An employee who has been included in the [classified] SKILLED
SERVICE OR PROFESSIONAL service under this subsection shall become a member of the
Employees' Retirement System of the State of Maryland with service credit beginning on
the date the employee is covered in the [classified] SKILLED SERVICE OR
PROFESSIONAL service.

APPOINTMENT IN the State Personnel Management System.
