Ch. 735 1997 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(c) Before a license expires, the licensee periodically may renew it for an
additional 2-year term, if the licensee:

(1) otherwise is entitled to be licensed;

(2) pays to the Board a renewal fee not exceeding [$80] $40, as set by the

Board; and

(3) submits to the Board:

(i) a renewal application on the form that the Board provides; and

(ii) satisfactory evidence of compliance with the continuing education
requirements set under this subtitle for license renewal.

(d) The Board shall renew the license of each licensee who meets the
requirements of this section.

2-313.

(a) The Board shall place a licensee on inactive status and issue an inactive status
certificate to the licensee, if the licensee:

(1) submits to the Board an application for inactive status on the form that
the Board provides;

(2) pays to the Board an inactive status application fee not exceeding [$40]
$20, as set by the Board; and

(3) except for the continuing education requirements set under § 2-312 of
this subtitle, qualifies for an active license.

(b) A licensee on inactive status may not practice certified public accountancy in
the State.

(c) (1) Unless a licensee on inactive status renews it as provided in this section,
the licensee loses that status on the first December 31 that comes:

(i) after the inactive status certificate is issued to the licensee; and

(ii) in an even-numbered year.

(2) At least 1 month before the inactive status of a licensee expires, the
Board shall mail to the licensee, at the last known address of the licensee:

(i) a renewal application form; and

(ii) a notice that states:

1. the date on which the inactive status expires;

2. the date by which the Board must receive the renewal
application for the renewal to be mailed before the inactive status expires; and

3. the amount of the renewal fee.
