SECTION 2. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1997. It shall remain effective for a period of 2 years and 1 month and, at the end of
June 30, 1999, with no further action required by the General Assembly, this Act shall be
abrogated and of no further force and effect.

AN ACT concerning
St Mary's County - Roads - Procedures
FOR the purpose of prescribing certain procedures under which the County
Commissioners of St. Mary's County consider the opening, closing, or alteration of
certain public roads in the County; providing that certain subdivision streets shall be
approved in accordance with County subdivision regulations; specifying certain
notice and hearing requirements and procedures and criteria pertaining to the
approval process; providing that certain provisions of law do not apply in the
County; providing that Planning Board approval is required in a certain manner;
modifying statutory references applicable to the condemnation process and
modifying application of certain statutes; making stylistic and technical changes;
and generally relating to procedures concerning governmental action pertaining to
road construction in St. Mary's County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 19 - St. Mary's County
109-1.
The County Commissioners of St. Mary's County are authorized and empowered to
control and regulate the public roads and bridges in [said county] THE COUNTY, subject
to the provisions of this chapter.
109-2.
A. The County Commissioners ON MOTION OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OR BY PETITION, AND ACTING by ordinance [or resolution), may:
(1) Condemn, lay out, open, extend and make new PUBLIC roads;
