AN ACT concerning

Office on Aging - Guardianship Advisory Board - Repeal

FOR the purpose of repealing the Guardianship Advisory Board in the Office on Aging.

Article 70B - Office on Aging
Section 24

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1995 Replacement Volume and 1996 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 70B - Office on Aging

[24.

(a) There is a Guardianship Advisory Board.

(b) The Director on Aging shall appoint the members of the Board, one of whom
shall be an attorney currently admitted to practice in Maryland, one of whom shall be a
physician admitted to practice in Maryland, and one of whom is neither an attorney nor
physician.

(c) The Guardianship Advisory Board may advise the Director regarding the
Director's responsibilities as the guardian of persons under § 13-707 of the Estates and
Trusts Article.

(d) The members of the Guardianship Advisory Board may not receive any
compensation for their services, but shall be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred
in the performance of their duties as provided in the State budget.

(e) Any Advisory Board member shall have the immunity from liability described
under § 5-341 of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.
