(2) (3) THE ASSESSMENT SHALL BE BASED ON ASSETS STATED IN THE
CREDIT UNION'S MOST RECENT FINANCIAL REPORT.
(C) A CREDIT UNION SHALL PAY THE ASSESSMENT IMPOSED UNDER THIS
SECTION TO THE COMMISSIONER ON OR BEFORE THE FEBRUARY 15 IN THE YEAR
AFTER THE ASSESSMENT IS IMPOSED.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.

AN ACT concerning
Maryland Medical Assistance Program - Recovery of Payments
FOR the purpose of prohibiting the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from
filing a claim against the estate of a deceased Maryland Medical Assistance
Program (Program) recipient unless the claim is presented within a certain time;
requiring attorneys representing certain Program recipients to notify the
Department before the occurrence of certain events under certain circumstances;
authorizing the Department to recover certain Program payments from the estate of
the surviving spouse of a deceased Program recipient under certain circumstances;
restricting certain Program claims to certain assets; requiring certain persons to pay
the Program certain funds of certain deceased recipients under certain
circumstances; requiring certain persons to provide certain notice to the Program
under certain circumstances; requiring the Program to pay certain funeral expenses
under certain circumstances; specifying certain terms and conditions of discharge
and release; prohibiting certain personal representatives from withdrawing certain
funds unless under certain circumstances; requring the Program to transfer certain
funds under certain circumstances; providing for the construction of this Act;
making certain technical corrections; and generally relating to the recovery of
payments by the Maryland Medical Assistance Program.
