AN ACT concerning

Washington County - Regulation of Noise

FOR the purpose of authorizing the County Commissioners of Washington County, by
ordinance, to adopt certain environmental noise standards, sound level limits, and
noise controls, subject to certain limitations.

BY adding to

The Public Local Laws of Washington County

Section 1-901 to be under the new subtitle "Subtitle 9. Regulation of Noise"

Article 22 - Public Local Laws of Maryland

(1991 Edition and August 1994 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 22 - Washington County

SUBTITLE 9. REGULATION OF NOISE

1-901.

(A) SUBJECT TO § 3-105 OF THE ENVIRONMENT ARTICLE OF THE ANNOTATED
CODE OF MARYLAND AND SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION, THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, BY ORDINANCE, MAY ADOPT ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE
STANDARDS, SOUND LEVEL LIMITS, AND NOISE CONTROLS AS NECESSARY TO
PROTECT THE PUBLIC HEALTH, THE GENERAL WELFARE, AND PROPERTY.

(B) ANY ORDINANCE ADOPTED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS UNDER
SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO POLICE OR FIRE AND
RESCUE VEHICLES OR WATERCRAFT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.
