AN ACT concerning

Prince George's County - Orphans' Court Judges - Salaries
PG 311-97

FOR the purpose of increasing the salaries of judges of the orphans' court for Prince
George's County; providing that this Act does not apply to the salary of incumbent
judges; and generally relating to judges of the orphans' court for Prince George's
County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Estates and Trusts

2-101.

In the estates of decedents law, the word court means the orphans' court in a
county, or the court exercising the jurisdiction of the orphans' court in a county.

2-108.

(q) The salary of each associate judge of the Court for Prince George's County
shall be [$28,000] $34,000 $31,500 per annum, and the salary of the Chief Judge shall be
I $28,500] $34,500 $32,000 per annum.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the judges of the orphans' court for Prince
George's County in office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
concerning the salary or compensation of the judges of the orphans' court for Prince
George's County shall take effect at the beginning of the next following term of office.
