Section 9-1401 to be under the new subtitle "Subtitle 14. Acceptance of Credit and
Debit Cards"

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) 10-501 and the subtitle "Subtitle 5. Manner of Payment -
Credit Card" of Article - Tax - Property of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of Maryland
read as follows:

Article 24 - Political Subdivisions - Miscellaneous Provisions

1-101.

(a) Unless the context clearly requires otherwise, in this article the following
words have the meanings indicated.

(b) "County" means a county of the State and Baltimore City.

SUBTITLE 14. ACCEPTANCE OF CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS.

9-1401.

(A) IN THIS SECTION, "GOVERNMENTAL CHARGE" MEANS:

(1) PROPERTY TAXES, ANY OTHER TAX, OR ANY FEE OR CHARGE
COLLECTED BY A COUNTY OR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION; OR

(2) ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGE COLLECTED BY A COUNTY OR
MUNICIPAL CORPORATION IN CONNECTION WITH PROPERTY TAXES, ANY OTHER
TAX, OR ANY FEE OR CHARGE COLLECTED.

(B) (1) THE GOVERNING BODY OF A COUNTY OR MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION MAY ALLOW A GOVERNMENTAL CHARGE TO BE PAID BY CREDIT
CARD OR DEBIT CARD.

(2) THE GOVERNING BODY OF A COUNTY OR MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION SHALL DETERMINE:
