comprehensive strategies for preventing and reducing the incidence of violence
against Asians; providing for the membership, duties, and staff of the Task Force;
requiring a certain report; specifying that the membership and staff of a prior Task
Force to Study Anti-Asian Violence continue and serve as the successor Task Force'
to Study Anti-Asian Violence; making this Act an emergency measure; providing
for the termination of this Act; and generally relating to the Task Force to Study
Anti-Asian Violence.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative Departments

18-308.

(A) THERE IS A TASK FORCE TO STUDY ANTI-ASIAN VIOLENCE

(B) THE TASK FORCE CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS:

(1) A MEMBER OF THE SENATE OF MARYLAND APPOINTED BY THE
PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE;

(2) A MEMBER OF THE MARYLAND HOUSE OF DELEGATES APPOINTED
BY THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES;

(3) THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR A DESIGNEE OF THE ATTORNEY

GENERAL;

(4) THE SECRETARY OF THE STATE POLICE OR A DESIGNEE OF THE
SECRETARY;

(5) TWO REPRESENTATIVES OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT APPOINTED BY
THE GOVERNOR;

(6) SEVEN REPRESENTATIVES APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR FROM
ASIAN ORGANIZATIONS; AND

(7) TWO REPRESENTATIVES APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR FROM
NON-ASIAN ORGANIZATIONS.

(C) THE TASK FORCE SHALL DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY FOR
PREVENTING AND REDUCING THE INCIDENCE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST ASIANS BY:

(1) EXAMINING THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM OF ANTI-ASIAN
VIOLENCE IN MARYLAND, AND EXISTING LEGAL MECHANISMS FOR ADDRESSING IT;
