(II) (III) IF THE TRANSFER OF ANY FUNCTION OR ACTIVITY,
UNDER SUBPARAGRAPH (I) OF THIS PARAGRAPH RENDERS THE NAME OF ANY UNIT
WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT MISLEADING OR INADEQUATE, THE SECRETARY MAY,
WITH THE GOVERNOR'S APPROVAL, ASSIGN A NEW NAME TO THE AFFECTED UNIT.
(III) (IV) IF THE SECRETARY CHANGES THE NAME OF A UNIT
UNDER SUBPARAGRAPH (I) OF THIS PARAGRAPH, THE SECRETARY SHALL SUBMIT
LEGISLATION DURING THE NEXT SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO MAKE
ANY NECESSARY CONFORMING CHANGES TO THE ANNOTATED CODE

(E) WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND
CORRECTIONAL SERVICES, THE CARE, CONTROL OR SUPERVISION OF AN
INDIVIDUAL IN A STATE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION, ON PAROLE, OR ON
MANDATORY SUPERVISION MAY BE ASSIGNED TO ANY EMPLOYEE OF THE
DEPARTMENT WHO HAS PROPER CERTIFICATION FROM THE MARYLAND
CORRECTIONAL TRAINING COMMISSION.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Secretary of Public
Safety and Correctional Services shall adopt regulations to implement this Act, including
regulations governing the transfer or reassignment of Departmental duties and staff.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act may not be
interpreted to affect the Maryland Parole Commission or the State Fire Marshal's office.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.

AN ACT concerning
Department of Housing and Community Development - Neighborhood Business
Development Program
FOR the purpose of altering the requirements for obtaining the local government's
expression of support for a Neighborhood Business Development Program; altering
a certain definition; and generally relating to the Neighborhood Business
Development Program and the Department of Housing and Community
Development.
BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,
