SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

3-1103.

The [County shall pay the annual] compensation AND EXPENSES of [each elected
member of] the MEMBERS OF THE County Board [with funds] SHALL BE PAID from
THE St. Mary's County BOARD OF EDUCATION [operating accounts in 12 monthly
installments] OPERATING FUNDS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.

AN ACT concerning

Health Insurance - Notice of Renewal

FOR the purpose of requiring a carrier, before renewing a health benefit plan, to mail a
certain notice of renewal to an insured or policyholder a group contract holder at
least a certain number of days before the expiration of the health benefit plan;
requiring a carrier to mail a certain notice of renewal to a small employer at least a
certain number of days before the expiration of a health benefit plan under certain
circumstances; defining a certain term; and generally relating to a notice of renewal
in health insurance.
