(8) A health care practitioner with a beneficial interest in, or compensation
arrangement with, a hospital or related institution as defined in § 19-301 of the Health -
General Article or a facility, service, or other entity that is owned or controlled by a
hospital or related institution or under common ownership or control with a hospital or
related institution if:
(i) The beneficial interest was held or the compensation arrangement
was in existence on January 1, 1993; and
(ii) Thereafter the beneficial interest or compensation arrangement of
the health care practitioner does not increase.
(e) A health care practitioner exempted from the provisions of this section in
accordance with subsection (d) shall be subject to the disclosure provisions of § 1-303 of
this subtitle.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1997.

AN ACT concerning
Education - Homeless Children
FOR the purpose of allowing a homeless child to continue to attend the school in which
the child was previously enrolled, even if the child's current place of abode would
not otherwise allow attendance at the school; providing transportation for certain
homeless children to and from school during the regular school year; prohibiting a
school from denying enrollment to a homeless child solely because the child is
unable to produce certain records; establishing a Homeless Children Committee in
the Maryland Department of Education; providing a penalty for falsifying certain
information; and generally relating to the accessibility of education to homeless
children.
FOR the purpose of establishing a task force to study and make recommendations on
the education of homeless children in the State, including the implementation of the
requirements of federal laws regarding the education of homeless children and
youth, and the funding of educational initiatives for homeless children and youth;
providing for the membership of the task force; providing for the staffing of the task
force; requiring a report by a certain date; and generally relating to the Task Force
on the Education of Homeless Children and Youth in Maryland.
