(III) THE PROVISIONS OF SUBPARAGRAPH (I) OF THIS PARAGRAPH
DO NOT APPLY TO A TEACHER WHO COMPLETES ALL THE REQUIREMENTS FOR
ASSESSMENT BY THE NATIONAL BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS
BUT WHO DOES NOT RECEIVE CERTIFICATION.
(E) THE STATE BOARD SHALL ESTABLISH A STATEWIDE STAFF
DEVELOPMENT PLAN THAT UTILIZES THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE OF TEACHERS
WHO HAVE OBTAINED NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the State Department of
Education shall report to the Governor and, in accordance with § 2-1312 of the State
Government Article, to the General Assembly on or before September 1, 1999 on the
status and success of the State and Local Aid Pilot Program for Certification by the
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
SECTION 3, AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1997. It shall remain effective for a period of 3 years, and, at the end of June 1,
2000, and with no further action required by the General Assembly, this Act shall be
abrogated and of no further force and effect.

AN ACT concerning
Maryland Health Care Foundation
FOR the purpose of establishing a Maryland Health Care Foundation; establishing a
Board of Trustees of the Foundation; providing for the membership of the Board;
specifying the purposes, powers, and duties of the Foundation; requiring the
Foundation to deposit or invest money in a certain manner; exempting the
Foundation from certain provisions of law; providing for the termination of this Act;
defining certain terms; and generally relating to the establishment of the Maryland
Health Care Foundation.

Section 20-501 through 20-510, inclusive, to be under the new subtitle "Subtitle 5.
Maryland Health Care Foundation"
