It is the intent of the General Assembly that,
beginning in Fiscal Year 1999, the
Department of Natural Resources decrease
the amount of Waterway Improvement
Fund revenues it spends on marine
operations in the Natural Resources Police
by $1 million $250,000 $750,000 per year
until the amount spent for these purposes
does not exceed the $1 million limit allowed
by law. Further, the number of positions of
law enforcement officers in the Natural
Resources Police should not be affected by
this decrease in revenues for marine
operations funded through the Waterway
Improvement Fund.

General Fund Appropriation...........................

$637,608 of the appropriation is contingent
on enactment of legislation authorizing
additional Waterway Improvement funds to
be expended for the marine operations of
the Natural Resources Police. The
department is authorized to use existing
resources as necessary to maintain the
