Ch. 47 1997 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(d) "Department" means the Department of Public Safety and Correctional
Services.

4-1102.

(a) There is a citizens' advisory committee for the institutions of the Department
located or planned for location in:

(1) Baltimore;

(2) Hagerstown;

(3) Jessup; [and]

(4) Somerset County; AND

(5) CUMBERLAND.

(b) Except as provided in subsection (e) of this section, each committee consists
of 7 members appointed by the Governor as required under subsections (c) and (d) of this
section.

(c) (1) The Senator and each Delegate from the legislative district in which the
institutions are located shall each submit a name to the Governor.

(2) Each member nominated by a Senator or Delegate shall be a resident of
the legislative district in which the institutions are located.

(3) The Governor shall appoint each person nominated by a Senator or
Delegate for a vacancy on a committee within 60 days after receipt of the nominee's
name.

(d) (1) To the extent possible, the additional 3 members shall be appointed to
provide for legal, law-enforcement, and business representatives on each committee.

(2) Each of these 3 members shall be a resident of the county in which the
institutions are located.

(e) (1) In Somerset County, the citizens' advisory committee consists of 8
members appointed as required under this subsection.

(2) (i) The Senator and each Delegate from Legislative District 38 shall
each submit a name to the Governor.

(ii) Each member nominated by a Senator or Delegate shall be a
resident of Somerset County.

(iii) The Governor shall appoint each person nominated by a Senator
or Delegate for a vacancy on a committee within 60 days after the receipt of the
nominee's name.

(3) (i) The Governor shall appoint, to the extent possible, 3 additional
members to provide for legal, law enforcement, and business representatives on the
committee.
