Defined term: "Person" § 1-101

(J) PREEXISTING CONDITION PROVISION.

"PREEXISTING CONDITION PROVISION" MEANS A PROVISION IN A HEALTH
BENEFIT PLAN THAT DENIES, EXCLUDES, OR LIMITS BENEFITS FOR AN ENROLLEE
FOR EXPENSES OR SERVICES RELATED TO A PREEXISTING CONDITION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly was Art. 48A, § 698(n).

No changes are made.

(K) REINSURING CARRIER.

"REINSURING CARRIER" MEANS A CARRIER THAT PARTICIPATES IN THE POOL.

(L) RISK-ASSUMING CARRIER.

"RISK-ASSUMING CARRIER" MEANS A CARRIER THAT DOES NOT PARTICIPATE
IN THE POOL.

"Pool" § 15-1201

(M) SMALL EMPLOYER.

"SMALL EMPLOYER" MEANS AN EMPLOYER DESCRIBED IN § 15-1203 OF THIS
SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added to avoid the repetition
of the lengthy reference to "an employer described in § 15-1203 of this
subtitle".

Former Art. 48A, § 698(q), which defined the term "small employer", is
revised as a substantive provision in § 15-1203 of this subtitle.

(N) STANDARD PLAN.

"STANDARD PLAN" MEANS THE COMPREHENSIVE STANDARD HEALTH BENEFIT
PLAN ADOPTED BY THE COMMISSION IN ACCORDANCE WITH § 15-1207 OF THIS
SUBTITLE AND TITLE 19, SUBTITLE 15 OF THE HEALTH - GENERAL ARTICLE.
