PARRIS N. GLENDENING, Governor

Ch. 35

QUALIFIED SECONDARY BENEFICIARY OR INSURED FOR BENEFITS THAT
OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE BEEN PAYABLE UNDER THIS SECTION.

(J) CONVERSION PRIVILEGES NOT AFFECTED.

THIS SECTION DOES NOT AFFECT OR LIMIT THE RIGHT OF A QUALIFIED
SECONDARY BENEFICIARY TO CONVERSION PRIVILEGES UNDER A GROUP
CONTRACT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48A, § 490H and, as they referred to former § 490H,
§§ 354GG and 477HH.

In subsection (a)(2) of this section, the former reference to an "applicable"
change in status is deleted as surplusage.

In subsection (a)(3)(i) and (5) of this section, the references to a "group
contract" are substituted for the former references to a "group insurance
contract" to use the defined term and for consistency within this section.

In subsection (a)(4)(i) of this section, the reference to a nonprofit health
service "insurance" plan is deleted for consistency with terminology used
throughout this article.

In subsection (b)(1) of this section, the references to a group contract "in
force on the date of the change in status" and to continuation coverage "in
accordance with this section" are added for consistency with §§ 15-407(b) and
15-409(b) of this subtitle.

In subsections (b)(2) and (f)(1) of this section, the references to "continuation
coverage" are substituted for the former references to "benefits" for
consistency with terminology used throughout this subtitle. Similarly, in the
introductory language of subsection (c), and in subsections (d), (g)(1), and
(i)(1) of this section, the references to "continuation" coverage are added.
Similarly, in subsection (f)(2) of this section, the reference to "continuation
coverage" is substituted for the former reference to "such benefits".

Defined terms: "Commissioner" § 1-101
"County" § 1-101
"Insurance contract" § 1-101
"Insurer" § 1-101
"Policy" § 1-101

15-409. CONTINUATION COVERAGE FOR INVOLUNTARILY TERMINATED
EMPLOYEES.

(A) DEFINITIONS.

(1) IN THIS SECTION THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
