Ch. 35

1997 LAWS OF MARYLAND

In subsection (b)(3) of this section, the reference to "persons" that offer a
service benefit plan is substituted for the former reference to an "entity" that
offers a service benefit plan to avoid conflict with the usage of the term
"entity" elsewhere in this section.

Throughout subsection (c) of this section, the reference to "family members'
coverage" is substituted for the former references to "family health coverage"
and "family coverage" for consistency with terminology used elsewhere in this
subtitle.

In subsection (c)(1) and (2)(ii) of this section, the former references to
coverage "under the enrollment" are deleted as unnecessary.

In subsection (c)(3) of this section, the word "terminate" is substituted for the
former words "disenroll" and "eliminate" for brevity. Similarly, in subsection
(c)(3)(ii) of this section, the reference to "termination" is substituted for the
former reference to "disenrollment" for consistency.

In subsection (c)(3)(iv) of this section, the reference to the "insuring parent"
is substituted for the former reference to the "parent under whose name the
child has been enrolled for coverage" in light of the definition of "insuring
parent" in subsection (a)(3) of this section.

Also in subsection (c)(3)(iv) of this section, the reference to "health
insurance" coverage is substituted for the former reference to "medical"
coverage for consistency within this section. Similarly, in subsection (e)(1) of
this section, the reference to "health" insurance coverage is added for
consistency.

Former Art. 48A, § 490W(a)(6), which defined "noninsuring parent" as a
parent other than an insuring parent, is deleted as an unnecessary statement
of the obvious.

Defined terms: "Certificate of authority" § 1-101
"Health insurance" § 1-101
"Insurer" § 1-101
"Person" § 1-101
"State" § 1-101

15-406. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE.
