percent State cash match for a federal grant
of $1,717,144 under the COPS MORE
program for a comprehensive computer
automation project for the Maryland State
Police.

General Fund Appropriation, provided that funds may be
used only for the purpose stated and that no state funds may be
expended until the federal matching funds for this appropriation
are received.

unfunded annual step increments denied to
199 sworn officers during FY 1992 and FY

Special Fund Appropriation
It is the intent of the General Assembly that
the salary structure of the State Police
officers shall be competitive with that of
other jurisdictions. Future budgets should
address this issue by making needed
adjustments to the pay plan over a
reasonable period of time. Not later than
September 1, 1996, the Department of State
Police shall submit a report to the budget
committees which examines salary
disparities among State and local police
forces for entry, mid-career, and senior
officers and provides a multi-year plan to
improve or maintain competitiveness of
State Police officers' salaries.
