from 32 to allow for a range of not less than 22 and not more than 27 voting members.

Senate Bill 353, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 14,
1996, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 545.

AN ACT concerning

Higher Education - University of Maryland Medical System Corporation - Board of

Directors - Membership

FOR the purpose of providing for a range in the permissible number of voting members
of the University of Maryland Medical System Corporation.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Education
Section 13-1B-04(b)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1992 Replacement Volume and 1995 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

13-1B-04.

(b) The Board of Directors consists of 6 nonvoting members and NOT LESS THAN
22 AND NOT MORE THAN 33 27 voting members appointed by the Governor.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1996.
