SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect

May 23, 1996

The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 409.

This bill grants concurrent jurisdiction to the District Court in cases in which an
individual or corporation has in possession any credit card number or other payment
device number belonging to another individual, with unlawful or fraudulent intent.

House Bill 1210, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on this
date, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 409.

Sincerely,

Parris N. Glendening

Governor

Senate Bill No. 409

AN ACT concerning

District Court - Jurisdiction - Felonies

FOR the purpose of granting the District Court jurisdiction in a criminal case in which a
person or corporation is charged with a certain felony under the Commercial Law
Article; providing that the District Court has concurrent jurisdiction with the circuit
court in a criminal case which is a certain felony; and generally relating to the
jurisdiction of the District Court.
