S.B. 277

VETOES

This bill increases the penalties for homicide by a motor vehicle or vessel while
intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or controlled dangerous substances. The bill
also establishes a new crime of and penalties for causing life threatening injury as result
of driving while intoxicated or under the influence.

House Bill 32, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 14,
1996, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 277.

Sincerely,

Parris N. Glendening

Governor
