This bill requires the State Board of Dental Examiners to fund the budget of a "dentist
rehabilitation committee" and authorizes the board to allocate monies from the State
Board of Dental Examiners Fund after review and approval of a budget submitted by the
committee.

House Bill 553, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 14,
1996, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 234.

AN ACT concerning

State Board of Dental Examiners - Dentist Rehabilitation Committee - Funding

FOR the purpose of requiring the State Board of Dental Examiners to use certain fees
set, collected, and distributed to the State Board of Dental Examiners Fund to fund
the budget of a dentist rehabilitation committee under certain circumstances; and
defining a certain term.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

4-207.

(a)     There is a State Board of Dental Examiners Fund.

(b)     (1) The Board may set reasonable fees for the issuance and renewal of
licenses and its other services.

(2)     The fees charged shall be set so as to approximate the cost of
maintaining the Board.

(3)     Funds to cover the compensation and expenses of the Board members
shall be generated by fees set under this section.

(c)     (1) The Board shall pay all funds collected under this title to the
Comptroller of the State.
