SECTION 16. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Drafter's Notes and
catchlines contained in this Act are not law.

SECTION 17. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the provisions of this Act
are intended only to reorganize and restate the laws concerning victims and witnesses of
crime in a nonsubstantive manner. Nothing in the codified provisions of this Act is
intended to make any substantive change to or revive any law in the Act or any other law
that is or was in effect on or prior to the effective date of this Act.

SECTION 18. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:

(a)     The publishers of the Annotated Code of Maryland, subject to the approval of
the Department of Legislative Reference, shall propose the correction of any
cross-references throughout the Code that are rendered incorrect by this Act.

(b)     The Department of Legislative Reference, in conjunction with the publishers
of the Annotated Code of Maryland, shall incorporate into or conform to the provisions
of this Act any other Act of the General Assembly of the 1996 Session that is affected by
this Act. The revisions of the 1996 Acts of the General Assembly required by this section
shall be ratified by passage of the Annual Corrective Bill of 1997.

SECTION 19. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, subject to the provisions
of Sections 11 and 12 of this Act, this Act shall take effect October 1, 1996.

AN ACT concerning

Landlord and Tenant - Surrender of Premises - Extension of Time

FOR the purpose of extending a certain time period following a certain judgment within
which a tenant may be ordered to surrender possession of certain premises, to the
landlord; extending a certain time period following a certain judgment in which a
party has a right to appeal the judgment; and generally relating to actions for the
surrender of premises under the landlord and tenant laws.
