1996 LAWS OF MARYLAND

that an employing unit establishes that provides for employees of the employing unit
generally or a class or group of employees to supplement unemployment benefits;

(x) any payment to an individual as compensation for serving or being
called to serve on a jury; or

(xi) any payment to an individual as allowance or reimbursement for
travel or other expenses incurred on the business of the employer up to the amount of
expenses actually incurred and accounted for by the individual to the employer.

EMPLOYMENT IS NOT COVERED EMPLOYMENT IF PERFORMED BY AN
INDIVIDUAL WHO IS A NONIMMIGRANT ALIEN ADMITTED TO THE UNITED STATES
UNDER § 101(A)(15)(F), § 1101(A)(15)(F), (J), (M), OR (Q) OF THE FEDERAL
IMMIGRATION AND NATIONALITY ACT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1996.

(House Bill 791)

AN ACT concerning

Contractual Services - Examination and Licensing

FOR the purpose of allowing the Insurance Commissioner to privatize certain services of
the Maryland Insurance Administration; clarifying the procedure whereby the
Insurance Commissioner administers and charges for examinations for certain
persons; repealing certain examination fees; repealing certain fees; clarifying the
manner in which contractual fees are set and collected; providing for the collection
of certain fees by certain persons; requiring certain reports to be submitted at
certain times by the Insurance Administration: providing for the termination of this
Act; providing for the future codification of certain provisions of this Act; and
generally relating to fees charged and services provided by the Maryland Insurance
Administration.
