(C) THE DEPARTMENT IS THE AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE
STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND TEXTUAL ACCURACY OF THE CODIFIED LAWS OF
THIS STATE.
DRAFTER'S NOTE:
Section 2-1309(c) of the State Government Article is added to clarify that the
Maryland Department of Legislative Reference is the entity that has the
responsibility for resolving questions arising from the publisher of the
Annotated Code of Maryland that relate to the internally codified structure
and accuracy of the text of the Code and to the public local laws.
2-1313.
(A) On request of a member of the General Assembly, the Department of
Legislative Reference [,] shall provide the member with a [copy] SET of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, [for personal use] only during the term of the member, at the end of
which it shall be returned to the Department. The Department shall keep the volumes
current.
(B) A MEMBER SHALL RETURN TO THE DEPARTMENT ALL OF THE CURRENT
VOLUMES OF THE CODE PROVIDED BY THE DEPARTMENT ON OR BEFORE THE
EXPIRATION OF THE MEMBER'S FINAL TERM OF OFFICE. IF A MEMBER RESIGNS OR
IS REMOVED FROM OFFICE BEFORE THE EXPIRATION OF THE MEMBER'S TERM, THE
MEMBER SHALL PROMPTLY RETURN THE VOLUMES TO THE DEPARTMENT.

Error: Incorrect punctuation in § 2-1313 of the State Government Article.
Subsection (b) is added to codify the procedures implemented by the
Department of Legislative Reference to reduce the costs to the General
Assembly of replacing sets of the Annotated Code when Members leave
office.

(d) [The] UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY THE COMMITTEE, THE Administrator may
not allow public access to a document that is to be included in the Register or the
Contract Weekly earlier than the date immediately following the issue date of the
Register or the Contract Weekly in which the document is published.
