Ch. 209

(6) (a) Prior to the issuance of the bonds, the grantee shall grant and convey to
the Maryland Historical Trust a perpetual preservation easement to the extent of its
interest:

(i) On the land or such portion of the land acceptable to the Trust;
and

(ii) On the exterior and interior, where appropriate, of the historic
structures.

(b) The easement must be in form and substance acceptable to the Trust
and the extent of the interest to be encumbered must be acceptable to the Trust.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1996.

(House Bill 304)

AN ACT concerning

Task Force to Examine the State's Cemetery and Funeral Industry

FOR the purpose of establishing a Task Force to Examine the State's Cemetery and
Funeral Industry; specifying the purposes and responsibilities of the Task Force;
requiring the Task Force to report to certain persons by a certain dates date,
providing for the composition of the Task Force: providing for the termination of the
Task Force;
providing for the effective date of this Act; and generally relating to the
Task Force to Examine the State's Cemetery and Funeral Industry.

Preamble

WHEREAS, The estimated average funeral cost is $4,470, an amount which is often
a burden for many families in the State; and

WHEREAS, It is essential that consumers in this State be afforded certain
protections and guaranteed certain rights; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That:

(a)     There is a Task Force to Examine the State's Cemetery and Funeral Industry.

(b)     The Task Force consists of the following 17 25 members:

(1)     2 3 Delegates appointed by the Speaker of the House of Delegates;

(2)     2 3 Senators appointed by the President of the Senate;
