(Senate Bill 290)

AN ACT concerning

Baltimore City - Alcoholic Beverages - Appellate Counsel to the Board of License

Commissioners

FOR the purpose of requiring the Board of License Commissioners for Baltimore City to
employ an attorney to serve as appellate counsel for the Board in actions of appeal;
requiring the Board to set a certain minimum annual salary compensation and
benefits for appellate counsel; and generally relating to the powers of the Board of
License Commissioners for Baltimore City.

BY adding to

Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages

Section 15-112(e-2)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1994 Replacement Volume and 1995 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages

15-112.

(E-2) IN BALTIMORE CITY, THE BOARD OF LICENSE COMMISSIONERS SHALL:

(1)     EMPLOY A QUALIFIED ATTORNEY TO SERVE AS APPELLATE
COUNSEL FOR THE BOARD IN ACTIONS OF APPEAL; AND

(2)     SET THE ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE APPELLATE COUNSEL AT NOT
LESS THAN $16,000
FOR APPELLATE COUNSEL THE SAME COMPENSATION AND
BENEFITS AS ARE SET FOR FULL-TIME INSPECTORS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1996.
