CHAPTER 53
(House Bill 342)

AN ACT concerning

Barbers - licenses - Prohibited Acts

FOR the purpose of specifying that bartering services may be performed only in a
licensed barbershop or beauty salon unless certain conditions are met; eliminating a
prohibition on operating a barbershop in certain moveable facilities; and
eliminating the restriction on barbershops in Montgomery and Prince George's
Counties
Prince George's County from operating only 6 days per week; and
generally relating to barbers.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Business Occupations and Professions

4-309.

(a) [ While] SUBJECT TO § 4-605 OF THIS TITLE, WHILE a master barber license
is in effect, it authorizes the licensee to:

(1)     practice barbering [ in a barbershop that holds a permit;

(2)     practice barbering in a beauty salon that holds a beauty salon permit];

and

[(3)] (2) supervise an apprentice barber.
