LABORATORIES THAT PROVIDE SERVICES TO THE NATIONAL TYPE EVALUATION
PROGRAM ONLY CHARGE A FEE TO COVER THE COST OF PROVIDING THE
TECHNICAL SERVICE OR EVALUATION BY THOSE INDUSTRIES REQUESTING THE
SERVICE

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Maryland
Department of Agriculture shall report to the House Environmental Matters Committee
no later than January 1, 1999, in accordance with § 2-1312 of the State Government
Article, on the implementation of this Act.

SECTION 2. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 1996.

AN ACT concerning

Asbestos Control - Revisions to Accreditation Plan

FOR the purpose of conforming certain requirements applicable to asbestos occupations
to changes in federal law; deleting a reference to an obsolete method of
accreditation; defining certain terms; and generally relating to accreditation of
individuals in asbestos-related work.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

6-401.

(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

[ (b) "AHERA" means Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act.

(c)] (B) (1) "Asbestos occupation" means any job as an inspector, project
designer, management planner, asbestos abatement contractor, asbestos supervisor, or
asbestos abatement worker involving:

(i) A project IN A PUBLIC AND COMMERCIAL BUILDING OR in a
school BUILDING that involves the location, identification, physical and hazard
