AN ACT concerning

Higher Education - South Africa Sanctions - Repeal

FOR the purpose of repealing certain provisions that prohibit the investment of certain
funds in or the procuring of certain products from South Africa by certain higher
education entities.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

[(g) In Montgomery County, the Board of Trustees of Montgomery Community
College may:

(1)     Provide in its bid specifications that a product grown, mined, or
manufactured in the Republic of South Africa may be rejected; and

(2)     Reject a bid for a product grown, mined, or manufactured in the
Republic of South Africa.]

17-301.

(a)     In this subtitle, the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)     "Eligible institution" means:

(1)     Each public sector higher education institution identified in §§ 10-101(j)
and 12-101(4) of this article or its affiliated foundation; and

(2)     Each community college which receives State funding under Title 16,
Subtitle 4 of this article or its affiliated foundation.
