In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the former phrase "his successor or
successors in office" is deleted as implicit in the reference to the "Secretary of
State".

Also in subsection (a)(1) of this section, the words "true and lawful", which
formerly modified "attorney", are deleted as surplusage.

In subsections (a)(1) and (b)(3)(ii) of this section, the former words "action"
and "suit" are deleted as included in the word "proceeding".

In subsection (a)(2) of this section, the reference to "service on the Secretary
of State under this section" is substituted for the former reference to "such
legal process in such court action, suit or proceeding and any such notice,
order, pleading or process in such administrative proceeding before the
Commissioner so served" for brevity.

Also in subsection (a)(2) of this section, the reference to legal "effect" is
substituted for the former reference to legal "force and validity" for brevity.

Also in subsection (a)(2) of this section, the former phrase "or upon his
executor, administrator or personal representative, or its successor in interest
if a corporation" is deleted as unnecessary in light of subsection (a)(3) of this
section, which binds the executor, administrator, personal representative, or
successor in interest of the person or insurer.

In subsection (b)(4) of this section, the former reference to process
"presented to him for that purpose" is deleted as surplusage.

In subsection (d) of this section, the former word "abridge" is deleted as
unnecessary in light of the word "limit".

Also in subsection (d) of this section, the former phrase "now or hereafter" is
deleted as surplusage.

4-208. CONTRACTS OF UNAUTHORIZED INSURERS NOT ENFORCEABLE.

(A) SCOPE OF SECTION.

THIS SECTION DOES NOT APPLY TO:

(1)      LAWFULLY PROCURED SURPLUS LINES INSURANCE; OR

(2)     INSURANCE CONTRACTS THAT ARE INDEPENDENTLY PROCURED
THROUGH NEGOTIATIONS OCCURRING ENTIRELY OUTSIDE OF THE STATE AND
THAT ARE REPORTED AND ON WHICH THE PREMIUM TAX IS PAID UNDER §§ 4-210
AND 4-211 OF THIS SUBTITLE.
