(ii) The Baltimore City Police Department;

(iii) The police department, bureau, or force of any county;

(iv) The police department, bureau, or force of any incorporated city
or town;

(y) The office of the Sheriff of any county;

(vi) The office of the State's Attorney of any county;

(vii) The office of the Attorney General;

(viii) The office of the State Prosecutor;

(ix) The Department of Juvenile [Services] JUSTICE; or

(x) The police department, bureau, or force of any bicounty agency or
the University of Maryland.

Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative Departments

4-301.

(b) As used in this section:

(4) A "correctional unit" means any governmental organization or activity of
the State, any county, or any municipality which has by statute, ordinance, or court order
the responsibility for the care, control and supervision of inmates in correctional
institutions, for persons declared to be parolees or for persons placed on probation or
suspension of sentence. However, the term "correctional unit" does not include the
Department of Juvenile [Services] JUSTICE.

4-611.

Except for the provision of § 4-516(c)(3) of this title, nothing in this subtitle or in
Subtitle 5 of this title shall be construed to extend to or affect (1) any persons retained in
the custody of Patuxent Institution for examination to determine eligibility or for
confinement as an eligible person; or (2) any juveniles committed to the jurisdiction of the
Department of Juvenile [Services] JUSTICE or to any institution or facility under the
jurisdiction of the Department.

4-1211.

(a) Before any other state or the District of Columbia may begin construction on
or otherwise locate a prison facility or correctional institution of any kind for adults or
juveniles in this State, the state or the District of Columbia shall submit a written request
for permission to build the facility or institution to the Secretary of Public Safety and
Correctional Services in the case of adult facilities, or to the Secretary of Juvenile
[Services] JUSTICE in the case of juvenile facilities.
