AID TO EDUCATION

36.01.02.01 State Share of Basic Current Expenses
General Fund Appropriation, provided that
the Prince George's County Board of
Education should attempt to direct
additional funding available under this
program to enhance neighborhood
(non-magnet) schools and report to the
Governor, the General Assembly, and the
State Board of Education on the
expenditure of these funds. Further
provided $5,873,943 of this appropriation
shall be withheld from disbursement to the
City of Baltimore for operation of the public
schools until evidence of substantial
progress toward implementing the Towers
Perrin/Cresap recommendations, including
implementing a merit based, systemwide
personnel evaluation system, is presented by
the Maryland State Department of
