H.B. 859

VETOES

May 24, 1995

The Honorable Casper R. Taylor, Jr.

Speaker of the House of Delegates

State House

Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today

vetoed House Bill 859.

This bill requires "drug free school zone" signs to include a hot line number to report
information concerning suspected illegal drug activity if the signs are posted after June
30, 1995.

Senate Bill 336, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 18,
1995, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House

Bill 859.

Sincerely,

Parris N. Glendening

Governor

House Bill No. 859

FOR the purpose of requiring that certain signs designating drug free school zones in
Baltimore City

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Education
Section 4-122

Annotated Code of Maryland
(1992 Replacement Volume and 1994 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
