The Honorable Casper R. Taylor, Jr.
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis MD 21401
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 433.
This bill allows 12 members of each fire company in Harford County to be appointed
deputy sheriffs and serve as fire police. The bill also provides that upon the approval of
the sheriff, the fire police also may perform traffic control.
Senate Bill 668, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 11,
1995, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 433.
Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
