support studies of efficiency in state
government. The University of Maryland
System and the appropriate state agencies
shall provide assistance in these studies.
Provided further, the Governor may
transfer the two positions and these funds to
the appropriate state agency or unit in the
executive branch, provided that $81,181 be
used for contracting with private
consultants for studies related to the
Efficiency 2000 Commission. Any portion of
$81,181 not used for this purpose shall
revert to the general fund at the end of the
fiscal year.
Further provided that no funds may be
expended for the use of private consultants
without the approval of the budget
committees or the passage of 45 days for
