Senate Bill No. 738

AN ACT concerning

Crimes - Motor Vehicle Theft Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle

FOR the purpose of creating the criminal offense of motor vehicle theft in a certain
numb
er of degrees; removing the element of value from the criminal offense of theft
of a motor vehicle; adding the element of a person with certain relationship to the
criminal offense of motor vehicle theft in a certain degree; removing motor vehicle
from certain criminal provisions relating to theft and larceny; establishing certain
penalties for violation of the criminal offense of motor vehicle theft in a certain
number of degrees; making certain stylistic changes; defining certain terms; and
gen
erally relating to the criminal offense of motor vehicle theft.

FOR the purpose of prohibiting a person or a person's aiders or abettors from knowingly
and willfully taking out of the lawful custody, "control, or use of certain persons a
motor vehicle without a certain consent; establishing certain penalties; establishing
a general form of indictment for a certain offense; providing that in certain cases in
which certain general forms of indictment or information are used a defendant is
entitled to a bill of particulars under certain circumstances; altering the intent
required for the crime of taking and carrying away certain property; defining certain
terms; and generally relating to unlawful taking of motor vehicles and other
property.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,
