The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 431.

This amended bill permits the trustee of a minor who recovers in tort to invest or reinvest
no more than 25 percent of the proceeds in a specified open-end management investment
company or investment trust.

House Bill 613, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 18,
1995, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 431.

Sincerely,

Parris N. Glendening

Governor

reinvestment of certain trust assets in a certain manner; imposing a
certain limit on the amount of trust assets that may be invested in certain money
market funds; and generally relating to trust assets of a minor who recovers in tort.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
