AN ACT concerning

Bad Checks

FOR the purpose of expanding the crime of obtaining property or services by a bad check;
establishing additional circumstances by establishing an additional circumstance
under which a person is guilty of committing the offense; allowing the State to prove
loss to a corporation from a bad chock in a c
ertain way; establishing a certain
presumption; allowing loss to certain entities from a bad check to be proven in a
certain way in certain actions; establishing certain penalties for obtaining prop
erty
or services by a bad check in a certain way; altering certain penalties for obtaining
property or services by a bad check in a certain way
altering certain penalties for
obtaining property or services by more than one bad check, each of which is issued for
less than a certain amount, issued to the same person within a certain time period;
allowing a court to require a defendant to pay a certain fee to certain persons upon
conviction of obtaining property or services by a bad check; establishing a method
and certain procedural r
equirements for proving that a defendant uttered or passed
a bad check; clarifying th
e applicability of certain language; granting certain powers
to certain persons appointed as special policemen; authorizing a certain method of
proving dishonor of a check by a drawer, that the drawer had no account with the
drawee at the time of utterance, and insufficiency of the drawer's funds at the time
of presentation; authorizing certain commissioners to accept certain applications
requesting a statement of charges under certain circumstances and authorizing
certain commissioners to request certain additional documentation from certain
persons;
altering a certain definition; making stylistic changes; and generally relating to
bad checks.
