The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 179.

This bill allows nonstock, nonprofit corporations organized exclusively for educational
and charitable purposes to lease or acquire oyster bottoms. The bill also limits to two the
number of leases of submerged land which may be not more than 30 acres each, and
provides that any harvest revenues must be used exclusively for educational and
charitable purposes.
