(House Bill 1175)

AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Disabled Persons' Registration Plates Trucks

FOR the purpose of authorizing the owner of a motorcycle to apply to the Motor Vehicle
Administration for assignment to the motorcycle of a special, disabled person's
registration number and special registration plate; increasing the maximum
allowable manufacturer's rated capacity of a Class E (truck) vehicle that is eligible
for special disabled persons' registration plates; making conforming changes
concerning the issuance of certain placards; making a stylistic change changes; and
generally relating to the eligibility of motorcycles and trucks for special disabled
persons' registration plates.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

13-616.

(a) (1) The owner of any vehicle described in paragraph (2) of this subsection
may apply to the Administration for the assignment to that vehicle of a special, disabled
person's registration number and special registration plates, if the applicant, a dependent
of the applicant, or any individual who depends on the applicant for transportation:

(i) Has permanently lost the use of a leg or an arm;

(ii) Is so severely and permanently disabled as to be unable to move
without a wheelchair or crutches;

(iii) So suffers from lung disease that his forced expiratory volume, one
second, when measured by spirometry, is less than one liter;

(iv) Has a permanent impairment of both eyes so that:

1. The central visual acuity is 20/200 or less in the better eye,
with corrective glasses; or
