CHAPTER 559
(House Bill 662)

AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Inspection Certificates - Validity

FOR the purpose of extending, for certain purposes relating to the titling and registration
of used vehicles, the period during which an inspection certificate issued for a used
vehicle owned and held in inventory by a licensed dealer remains valid; clarifying
language; and generally relating to the period during which an inspection certificate
issued for a used vehicle remains valid for purposes of titling and registration.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

23-101.

(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(e)     "Inspection certificate" means a written certification by an inspection station
that:

(1)     Certifies that, as of its date, a specified vehicle meets or exceeds the
standards for equipment established under this title; and

(2)     Is signed and dated on behalf of the inspection station by the registered
individual who personally inspected the vehicle.

(f)      "Inspection station" means a facility that is licensed by the Division under this
subtitle.
