PARRIS N. GLENDENING, Governor

Ch. 533

former phrases "judges of the several courts of the State, whether elected or
appointed, including all judges of the several orphans' courts ...[etc.]" and
"candidate for nomination for, or election to, an elected judgeship", for
brevity and to clarify that quasi-judicial offices in other branches of
government, e.g., Tax Court and Office of Administrative Hearings, are not
included.

Defined terms: "Bicounty commission" § 15-102
"Compensation" § 15-102
"Official" § 15-102
"Public official" § 15-102
"State official" § 15-102

15-602. FILING REQUIREMENTS — OFFICIALS GENERALLY.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS SUBTITLE, A STATEMENT FILED
UNDER THIS SECTION OR §§ 6-603 THROUGH 6-605 OF THIS SUBTITLE SHALL:

(1)     BE FILED WITH THE ETHICS COMMISSION;

(2)     BE FILED UNDER OATH;

(3)     BE FILED ON OR BEFORE APRIL 30 OF EACH YEAR;

(4)     COVER THE CALENDAR YEAR IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE YEAR
OF FILING; AND

((5) CONTAIN THE INFORMATION REQUIRED IN § 15-607 OF THIS
SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to consolidate filing
requirements in former Art. 40A, § 4-102(a) and (b).

In item (3) of this section, the words "during that person's term in office" from
former Art. 40A, § 4-102(a)(l) are deleted as surplusage, because the
application of this provision to "officials" makes implicit the requirement that
filing be made during the official's term.

Defined term: "Ethics Commission" § 15-102

15-603. APPOINTEE FILLING VACANCY.

AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS APPOINTED TO FILL A VACANCY IN AN OFFICE FOR
WHICH A STATEMENT IS REQUIRED BY § 15-601(A) OF THIS SUBTITLE, AND WHO HAS
NOT ALREADY FILED A STATEMENT UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION FOR
THE PRECEDING CALENDAR YEAR, SHALL FILE THE STATEMENT WITHIN 30 DAYS
AFTER APPOINTMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from the second sentence of former Art. 40A, § 4-102(a).

15-604. OFFICIALS LEAVING OFFICE.

(A) IN GENERAL.
