DRAFTER'S NOTE:
Subsection (b)(2)(vii) of this section is amended to reflect the establishment
of the Department of State Police as a principal department of State
government by Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994 and to delete surplus language.

(c) (1) In consultation with the [Superintendent] SECRETARY of the
[Maryland] State Police and the Maryland Police Training Commission, the Board of
Regents shall adopt standards, qualifications, and prerequisites of character, training,
education, human and public relations, and experience for University of Maryland police
officers, including standards for the performance of their duties.
(2) To the extent practicable, the Board shall adopt standards that are
similar to the standards adopted for the DEPARTMENT OF [Maryland] State Police.

head of the Department as a Secretary of a principal department of State

(f) Upon request, the DEPARTMENT OF State Police shall provide technical
assistance to a local law enforcement agency which is investigating a report of suspected
child abuse concerning a family day care home.
