1995 LAWS OF MARYLAND

13-701.

(a)     A person may not engage in, attempt to engage in, or offer to engage in a
business for the purpose of providing private detective services in the State unless
licensed as a private detective agency by the [Superintendent] SECRETARY.

(b)     An individual may not provide, attempt to provide, or offer to provide private
detective services in the State unless certified as a private detective by the
[Superintendent] SECRETARY.

(c)     A person may not engage in, attempt to engage in, or offer to engage in the
business of providing security guards for hire in the State unless licensed as a private
detective agency by the [Superintendent] SECRETARY.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

This section is amended to reflect the status of the head of the Department of
State Police as the Secretary of a principal department of State government in
light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994.

13-705.

A person may not willfully make a false statement on any application form, annual
statement, or other document submitted to the [Superintendent] SECRETARY under
this title.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

This section is amended to reflect the status of the head of the Department of
State Police as the Secretary of a principal department of State government in
light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994.

18-101.

(b) "License" means a license issued by the [Superintendent] SECRETARY or
the [Superintendent's] SECRETARY'S designee to engage in the business of providing
security systems for compensation.

(e) ["Superintendent"] "SECRETARY" means the [Superintendent]
SECRETARY of the [Maryland] State Police or the [Superintendent's] SECRETARY'S
designee.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

Subsections (b) and (e) of this section are amended to reflect the status of the
head of the Department of State Police as the Secretary of a principal
department of State government in light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994 and
to delete surplus language.
