Ch. 488

1995 LAWS OF MARYLAND

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1995. It shall remain effective for a period of 3 years and, at the end of
September 30, 1998, with no further action required by the General Assembly, this Act
shall be abrogated and of no further force and effect.

AN ACT concerning

Departments of the Environment and Natural Resources - Reorganization

FOR the purpose of consolidating certain existing environmental regulatory programs
into a single cabinet agency; transferring certain environmental regulatory functions
from the Department of Natural Resources to the Department of the Environment;
providing that the Department of the Environment will be responsible for certain
programs regulating water and water resources, tidal and nontidal wetlands, and
extraction of oil, natural gas, coal, and other minerals; and generally relating to the
transfer of certain environmental regulatory functions from the Department of
Natural Resources to the Department of the Environment.
