Ch. 440

(d) Nothing in subsection (b) of this section is intended to restrict or limit in any
manner the authority and duty of a regulatory body that licenses professionals within this
State to license persons who render professional services or to regulate the practice of any
profession that is within the jurisdiction of the regulatory body, notwithstanding that the
person is a partner, employee, or agent of a limited liability partnership and is rendering
the professional services or engaging in the practice of the profession through the limited
liability partnership.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1995.

(Senate Bill 424)

AN ACT concerning

State Treasurer - Selection

FOR the purpose of providing, in the process that leads to the appointment of a State
Treasurer, for the election by the joint session to be by a majority of the Members
of both Chambers present and voting; specifying the roles of the Secretary of the
Senate and Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates; specifying that the Rules of the
House govern the joint session; providing for the appointment, responsibilities, and
staffing for a joint committee; clarifying language and structure; and generally
relating to the selection of a State Treasurer.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 5-101

Annotated Code of Maryland
(1993 Replacement Volume and 1994 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - State Government

5-101.

(a) There is a Treasurer of the State, as provided in Article VI, § 1 of the
Maryland Constitution.

[(d)](B) (1) [If 2 or more individuals are being considered by the General
Assembly for the Office of Treasurer, the] THE General Assembly may designate a
committee to consider the qualifications of the candidates and procedures for the casting
of ballots for the appointment.
